Course structure:

La Belle Classe Academy is delighted to provide onboard training for families and crew wishing to have tuition on their own boat, potentially leading to RYA qualifications and the ICC (International Certificate of Competence) upon full completion of the course syllabus.

With over twenty five years of experience training on every type of craft, Chief Instructor James Brooke specialises in helping crew and families fully develop their skills onboard their own boats and truly appreciate the art of boat handling in varying conditions.

Every boat is different and with multiple drive configurations including outboard motors, stern drives, shafts, jet drive and IPS pods, it can be hugely beneficial to have onboard training specific to the boat.

Specialist training includes:

  • Manoeuvring in marinas
  • Docking practise
  • Advanced high speed boat handling
  • Navigation with GPS
  • Passage planning
  • Operation of safety equipment
  • VHF radio communications
  • Port controls and procedures
  • Bouyage and restricted areas
  • International collision regulations
  • Weather forecasts
  • Engine management and maintenance
