22nd March – A Day with the Collision Regulations
- History of the collision regulations
- Identification of vessels, lights and shapes
- A walk through the sailing and steering rules 12 – 19
- Rules in action; various scenarios including radar
- Case studies of past collisions and rule interpretation.

23rd March – Legal Responsibilities of Masters and Officers
- Who and what is the master?
- Derivation of laws and conventions – the IMO
- Officers legal duties
- Masters legal duties
- Record keeping and official log books
- Requirements of port and flag state.
Target audience – Captains, Deck Officers, Bosuns and any crew wishing to progress to these ranks
12th April – Health and Safety Day
- Health and safety laws and obligations
- Health and safety obligations of every employee
- Risk assessment – why, when , where?
- Lifting Equipment regulations
- COSWP and enclosed spaces
- Safe access to the ship
Target audience – All crew
13th April – MARPOL and environment day
- Shipping and the environment including the IMO
- MARPOL – introduction and annexes I, IV and V
- Air pollution – the technical details of compliance with MARPOL VI
- Alternative fuels and their limitations
- Emission reduction strategies
Target audience – Captains, Deck Officers, Bosuns and any crew wishing to progress to these ranks
